On June 21-25th 4 Awaken City youth long boarded from Greensboro to the Beach!  That is 210 miles in less than one week!  Now you might be asking yourself, why in the world would anyone do that?

Each year OFY, the youth group here at Awaken City takes a missions trip to New York City.  There they participate in multiple outreach events ranging from partnering with local churches to carry out VBS programs, soup kitchens, ministry on the streets and much more.  Well that's cool you say, but what does that have to do with the Board for the Lord trip? 

Simply put, Everything.  Each of the students who went on this trip to the beach has raised an incredible amount of money to make sure that they will be able to go to New York and participate in all that God is doing there.  Their hearts are broken for the people of New York and they are so passionate about making sure that the citizens of New York City hear the gospel message that they have raised enough to make sure they can go and even other students who might not have enough money otherwise to make it.

These high school students skated an average of over 30 miles each day in the blazing heat all for Jesus' glory and that his name could be spread all the more.  Even more, the students are slept each night in various churches along the way and even had speaking opportunities.

Well the students are back now and completely rested up.  We are excited to report that the 4 of them were able to raise over a total of $2000!  This is just a small glimpse of what is happening at Awaken City and we are asking everyone to join us to pray that God continues to be faithful and does even more in the very near future.

We are so honored to be a church that is partnering with churches all around the globe during the month of June.  Can you believe that there are over 705,000 churches particpating in this event?  While it is cool to be able to hear the hearts and minds of other pastors around the world there is so much more to this One Prayer event.
