“We love because He first loved us.” [1 John 4:19]
At Awaken City Church, we believe we are to actively extend our faith to a world that desperately needs a demonstration of the love and power of our God. We believe we should re-present God’s love through our actions at home, and across the globe. As a church, we are excited to support through finances and prayer the following ministries. We are even more excited to see how God moves in other areas of the world!
Gabriel and Sarah live and work at The Amazima School, where they are houseparents to 20 Ugandan children who are orphaned, impoverished, or at risk. Their primary role is to provide these students with a loving home, and give them the tools they need to be successful.
Amazima’s desire is to provide each student with invested house parents, nutritious food, medical attention, and strong academics –– all within a biblical worldview.
Uganda is actually the youngest country in the world. With half of its population under the age of 15 years old, it is a nation of children. That is why education is so important for Ugandans.
Gabriel and Sarah believe each child is created in God’s image, and is infinitely valuable. Their desire is to let each student know they are “fearfully and wonderfully” made and that Jesus Christ loves them with unconditional love. It is Gabriel and Sarah’s prayer to develop meaningful relationships with the students, because they know that life change happens through relationships.
